2009 Walk for Life
Posted on April 29th, 2009Life Hope Update
Posted on April 2nd, 2009Dear friends,
The economic downturn has affected many and our prayers are with all who are struggling at this time. We too, are feeling the pressures. Therefore, because the Board of Directors of Life Hope is committed to fiscal integrity and transparency, we are letting our donors and supporters know that Life Hope is facing serious financial difficulties. To us these difficult times are an indication that reevaluating what we are doing and how we are doing it is necessary. We want to continually be in God’s will and impact lives for His glory so with every decision the Board makes we are keeping that first and our fiduciary responsibilities second. So with that in mind…
THIS IS WHERE WE ARE NOW! We are behind on our bills by $9,000.00 and unable to get needed supplies and keep up with quickly rising overhead costs.
AND THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE DONE AND ARE DOING ABOUT IT!
We are downsizing (our landlord has graciously released us from our lease in Suite B!) and cutting our overhead costs wherever we can in order to get ourselves into a sustainable and efficient operat-ing position. We are (and/or have):
- streamlining our services and focusing in more on our target audience;
- reducing our size by half to reduce more overhead (we will operate out of Suite C only);
- laid off one of our two paid positions; are looking for volunteer medical staff instead;
- changing our hours to reach our target audience and save money;
- catching up on our obligations by spending less and selling extra items from Suite B;
- communicating with as many as possible via e-mail to save even more. (PLEASE, IF YOU HAVE E-MAIL CAPABILITIES, BE SURE AND GIVE US YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS!)
To you our current donors and supporters, thank you for all you do! We so appreciate you, but could we ask another favor? Do you know of anyone who shares in our life-affirming core values who may be interested in helping Life Hope? If you do, as a Life Hope partner, please talk to them on our behalf! It would help us so much if you would spread the word and encourage them to regu-larly give, too, with $10, $20, or any amount they are able monthly (sent to Life Hope PO Box 780 Woodland, WA 98674 or on-line to lrlh.org).
Your prayers and support are so important to us and we thank you again for them. We will let you know how things progress. In the meanwhile, if you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me at lori@lrlh.org or call me at 1-360-225-4749. Or drop by Tuesdays, Wednesdays, from 3:30 to 6 pm. and Thursdays from 1:00 to 6pm. (Our hours will continue to adjust as we get more volun-teers.)
God Bless You All,
Lori Anderson, Director

2008 Walk for Life

Jeremiah 29:11 NASB
Dear Friends,
“Jeremiah 29:11″ was written all over the bare studs in the new medical wing of Life Hope. I could hear the volunteer work crew from Home Depot ask about what it meant and the Christian among them explain it. While the workers covered the writing with sheetrock and heard about Gods plan of hope as outlined in that scripture, one of our volunteers was working with a young girl who made the commitment not to abort. This young lady was watching third trimester education materials and picking out a “layette” gift bag for her and her (she just found out!) coming baby boy. At the same time, I headed into a counseling room with two young sexually active Christian kids. Barely into their teens, this young couple and I talked for two hours about Jeremiah 29:11 kind of stuff. When we were through we prayed and this young man and his girlfriend recommitted themselves to Christ. Wow! It was a Jeremiah 29:11 kind of day! Matter of fact, it has been that way all summer.
So much has been happening here, even on the days when we have had NO clients! The winter and spring medical conversion tasks are done. It was a struggle complete with illnesses, broken equipment, even a death (of one of our faithful advocates and advisors), but God got us through the stress and grief and hardships and made a way for us to complete the tasks set before us. The internal changes have been made, the extra space is in the final stages of repair and painting, the education space is cleaned and set up, the WALK is over and the fall banquet is being planned, and many grant applications have been submitted. Now its time to start Phase 3 with a supply and equipment drive we are calling, “Operation Ultrasound”!
I hope you are as excited about this as we are. I know it will take some money and some doing but we believe God can put that together no problem! We just get to have the opportunity of seeing Him bring it in and the fun of shopping for an ultrasound machine, a Doppler, exam tables, and other needed equipment and supplies. If you would like donate for this phase and/or make it a project for your family, group, church, business, and/or organization feel free to do so. We welcome the help! And of course, as always please keep praying that Life Hope can continue to be here for whatever “appointments” God has planned.
God Bless You All!

Lewis River Life Hope Pregnancy Care Center Plans to Convert to a Medical Facility and Expand Education Opportunities
Posted on April 17th, 2007A Director’s Report by Lori Anderson
Life Hope is going medical! We have been serving the communities in the Lewis River area for five years now and have studied the numbers and trends we see. 70% of our current client load is Caucasian and the rest are various minorities. Most of our clients are under-educated, un-insured, young, single, and unemployed. The local economies and peoples are struggling and more people need help. Our clients are usually on foot, unable to afford or find transportation and the nearest pregnancy medical help is 20 to 30 minutes away. 90% of our pregnant girls do not get critical 1st trimester prenatal care (if any prenatal care); sexually active people in our region need STD testing and medical help; the clientele we assist need more practical education help (L.H. clients have an average 9th grade education level. Our Hispanic clients have an even lower education level and many are illiterate in their own language as well as in English.) …
All of these factors were used to help us make the decision. The best way to help more is to convert to a medical facility, providing early pre-natal care, STD testing, ultrasounds, doppler, medical advise/help, etc. in addition to offering more educational and counseling services. (Doctor Patrick Marmion, from Legacy of Portland and Vancouver is working with us to establish a medical center similar to ones he started in Cincinatti called, “Healthy Beginnings”. At this point he is our expert OB-GYN labor and delivery doctor advising and directing us.)
So, Life Hope has made the commitment to convert to a medical facility and to expand the education program. We started the phases in January 2007 and look to complete the conversion by January 2008. We are leasing the extra space next door and are in the process of preparing it now. When complete, we will have an education wing to implement our new Improve Mom’s/families Practical Abilities with Computer Technology (IMPACT *see below) computer literacy program (along with more general education), and a medical wing to provide healthy starts for our clientele, their partners, and their babies.
By doing all this, we expect to see more than a 25% increase in pregnancy test clients; more than 50% increase in mothers at Life Hope receiving 1st trimester pre-natal care; a complete new clientele for STD testing and education; a measurable improvement in basic knowledge by our under-educated clientele, and a new clientele taking advantage of our new IMPACT computer literacy program.
For more information or to contact Lori about this and other Life Hope things, log on to www.LRLH.org.
*The IMPACT program is designed to help improve the lives of our clients by increasing their knowledge and abilities on practical levels while improving their computer skills. The goals will be to 1) Make computers, computer tutorials, and computer education and software available to all clients wishing to improve themselves and 2) Improve computer abilities in the lives of moms and their families that seek help from Life Hope. We expect this one program to help increase the literacy rates and the computer literacy rates of our clientele.

Dear Friends,
Good April showers bring wonderful May flowers! And boy have we been showered!
The Bread of Life Church/Woodland Christian School K&1st Grade students raised money for us; the youth of Woodland Christian Church have repeatedly helped us; a construction company out of Longview donated the labor of two workers for a day; friends continue to help with supplies, and as we speak an electrician is donating his time with more lease-hold improvements. And… people keep showering us with needed baby supplies/donations, some even make a party of it! The Grace Community Church is throwing us a baby shower May 3rd (in conjunction with their Spring event called, Bloom Where You Are Planted)!
The blessings just keep on showering down upon us! And now, more friends have donated 1,000 Walk Pledge Forms to jump start our 1st ever Walk fundraising effort, (so we can become a medical facility ASAP)! We are excited about this Walk and invite you and all your friends to participate. All participating Centers will be walking at the same time in different locations and the funds raised for each individual Center will be used for different things. If you check off the Woodland box on your form, the money raised will be used to help Life Hope further the conversion to a medical facility!
Check out the enclosed forms… (And please note these corrections.)
- There is no uniteforlife.org website. Registration forms for Woodland can be filled out here on line, or if you already have a printed form it can be sent to Life Hope P.O. Box 780 Woodland, WA 98674. (Download and fill in this registration form for mail-ins.) Last minute walkers can register June 2nd at the covered area at Horseshoe Park in Woodland.
- You CAN collect pledges! It will actually help us if you do! However, if someone asks you to bill them, don’t worry! Just fill out their information and Life Hope will bill them. You can mail collected pledges and completed forms to Life Hope P.O. Box 780 Woodland, WA 98674; take them to our treasurer, Joy Snead, (manager at the Twin City Bank at 115 Davidson, Woodland, in the Plaza across the street from the Woodland Fire Station), or you can bring them with you on the day of the Walk and give them to Joy.
- If you can’t walk YOU CAN PRAY! Lift all of the Centers and their clients up in prayer on June 2nd at 10 am!
- For more info call us here at 225-4749.
With all these blessings showering down upon us, we will be blossoming into a medical facility soon! (We are almost ready for medical equipment & supplies!) Thank you all for digging into this project with us!
God Bless You and Yours!
