What is Current Events

Dear Donors,

Lewis River “Life Hope” Pregnancy Care Center needs a “shot-in-the-arm” for our new Health and Human Services/Education project! We need a total of $300,000.00 (to help us convert into a medical facility) for the following budget items:

• $13,000 for lease-hold improvements
• $110,000 for medical equipment and office set-up
• $28,000 for advertising and education development
• $17,100 for training
• $45,100 for start-up overhead and utilities
• $86,000 for nurses etc.

For more than five years, donations from individuals in our communities have provided a way for us to assist families (in the Southwest Washington communities surrounding the Lewis River) with their pregnancy related needs. By providing self-administered free pregnancy tests, baby and mother supplies, counseling, and education for our under-insured, under-educated, (mostly) young, single, unemployed clientele, many babies have been born, and many families have been helped!

However, more needs to be done! For example: almost 90% of our pregnant girls do not get critical 1st trimester pre-natal care; our pregnancy test clientele here has decreased by 16% (because of a need for medical diagnoses and help); sexually active youth, seeking medical help and STD testing here, regularly turn away from our “STD education only” capabilities.

After five years of prayer, research, and “non-medical” service, our three Board members, two legal experts, four medical experts, and twenty-four volunteers are all in agreement. The best way to help more is to become a medical facility, providing early pre-natal care, STD testing, ultrasounds, medical advise, etc. in addition to expanding our educational and counseling services. So, we have made the announcement to “Go Medical” and have started the phases, totally committed to completion by winter of 2007/08.
