What About STD's?
Most of the time, we don't think about,
or talk about, STDs... but we should. According
to the CDC (Center for Disease Control),
in 2000, an estimated 18.9 million new cases
of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) occurred
in the United States. People aged 15-24
represented only 25% of the sexually active
population, but approximately 48% of all STD cases. The most
common STD for 15-24 year olds is the human papillomavirus
(HPV). In 2000, an estimated 4.6 million new HPV infections occurred
among persons aged 15--24 years."
We don't think or talk about STDs, but we should. STDs are affecting many, many lives and futures.
