Life Hope History and Statistics
The Founder...
Carla Dooley, Life Hope's founder, had a strong desire to help hurting young women, so, in January 1997 she went to a training event for the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Vancouver, Washington. After the week-long training she signed up to volunteer as a counselor. For the next three years she served there and saw many ladies find peace and hope in God.
In the year 2000 her nephew needed a kidney transplant. Carla volunteered to be the donor. During her six weeks of recuperation at her home in Woodland, Washington, she, "...felt the Lord speaking to her heart about starting a pregnancy help center in Woodland."
Her first response was like Moses, "You got the wrong person for the job. I have never completed anything in my life, Lord!"
She felt a prompting to read Zechariah 4:6 & 7 which says...
"Not by might and not by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord."
She stopped arguing with God and the Lewis River Life Hope Pregnancy Care Center (then called Life Touch Pregnancy Care Center) was born.
"Since its opening in 2002 the grace to Life Hope has abounded..." explains Carla, "... more than any one could ever imagine. The Lord blessed us with many helpful hands along the way. We spoke at churches and other Pro-life groups to begin the support that was greatly needed. We met at my house for over a year forming prayer groups, and a Board of Directors."
After two years of hard work the doors finally opened in March of 2002.
"Since our opening we have always known the Lord would direct us every step of the way, if we kept Him first. This is exactly what we have done. God is truly in Life Hope." exclaims Carla.
To this day, the vision has remained the same, to bring hurting young women and families in crisis situations to the knowledge of the love of Jesus Christ! Life Hope staff and volunteers, through words and deeds, reveal the hope that only comes from God!
